Step by step

Start with a category
Pick Stay, Eat, Shop or another available category. Choosing one shows its types and amenities. When you switch category, filters that no longer make sense are removed.
Type a name or town
Use the search box to find a specific business or narrow things down by town. It searches within the area you’re viewing: it doesn’t move the map to the town you type, so if it’s far away, zoom out first. On a phone the search box is always at the top, and results appear in the bottom sheet.
Refine with the available controls
Choose the type of place in the second row and one amenity from the drop-down, such as terrace, parking or pets allowed (one at a time). For accommodation you can set how many it sleeps. On a phone, extra controls open from «Filters».
Use «Open now» wisely
This filter shows places whose published hours can be read and say they’re open. A business with no hours is left out even if it may be open. Before you set off, check the listing or call if you need to be sure.
Widen the search when nothing shows up
Remove one filter at a time or press «Clear» (next to the map you’ll see how many filters are on). Also switch off «Open now» if it’s still selected, and zoom out. Use «View all» if you’d rather browse the directory.

The place exists but doesn’t show up

It may be outside the view, not have the amenity ticked or have no opening hours. Try «All», delete the text and switch off «Open now».

When you finish

You’ll be able to turn a broad search into a useful shortlist.
